1. To begin, I copied the "Assembly Pictorial" http://genesisradio.com.au/G3020/a1.html onto my local server. Everything to be collected into a single Genesis doc directory. Also copied (Firefox: File | Save Page As ... Web Page, Complete) the continued page that I missed on the first pass through ... http://genesisradio.com.au/G3020/a2.html.
2. Also I copied the "PCB Layout and Wiring Diagram" http://genesisradio.com.au/G3020/g3020final.png.
3. The "Bill of Material" is at http://genesisradio.com.au/G3020/bom.html. Saved that too. For checking off the parts inventory, just a simple chart without photos is fine with me. I removed the images and saved as a PDF ... download it here.
4. Near the middle of the G3040 page, there's a block marked "Experience the Magic Sounds of SDR." I downloaded the audio wav file and the PowerSDR SR-40 version 1.9.0 for the SoftRock-40 using their links. I followed the instructions at the Genesis help link provided. Straightforward install on my Windows-7 virtual machine running on the MacBook Pro, except for the suggested sample rate of 48,000. Had to change to 96,000 so the wav file would load into the playlist.
5. While watching the Yahoo Group for Genesis Radio, I came across a new entry related to a recent translation of the GSDR Manual available for download. After opening the doc file with Word, I saved it as a PDF on my server.
6. The package came yesterday, 3/21/2011. Bought from a local chap; Genesis is out of stock. In addition to the radio, I also bought the case from Art-Tronics.
7. Parts inventory is next. With this radio, I don't want to start building only to come up short one part -- and then wonder if I put the missing part in somewhere it didn't belong. My PDF parts printout (#3 above) is a good check list. Only a couple minor parts short, and KF1Z responded quickly to that.
8. I found another useful document in the Yahoo Group in the Files, FAQ section: an introduction by Preston Douglas. With his kind permission, the PDF version of his original Word doc is linked here.
